So I currently completed the online forum Patriot Design. This is a small online community intended for, but not limited too, George Mason University design and technology students. Emphasis are placed on web design, but the forum provides discussion boards for other concentrations such as photography and digital arts. My goal is to produce a resource of useful information, inspiration and feedback for everyone interested in the arts, design and technology.
Originally this project first started off as an AVT 414 (Web Design and Usability) assignment, but quickly evolved into a full fledge site. You see, ever since I was at Mason I always was looking for an online forum where I could meet fellow students, talk about current trends and receive feedback. Unfortunately, I was not able to find one, so I would just have to make one.
The forums were designed using SMF software and use a table - less template that was completely redesign. In designing a forum for designers I wanted to create something that was simple, intuitive, and not overwhelming to content. After many revisions, I feel I have accomplished this task and am satisfied with the results. Hopefully with more promotion and time, Patriot Design will develop into a substantial community.
